Design and symbolism

A white rose with green and gold details appears on blue. The rose is the county’s longstanding emblem, given a simple, highly recognisable setting.

History and use

The flag was in use by at least the 1960s before the Yorkshire Ridings Society secured its registration in 2008. The county flag represents Yorkshire as a whole. The flags of its three Ridings are separate designs and are not additional counties in this directory.
