Design and symbolism

A red cross edged in gold separates green and blue quarters. A golden fleur-de-lys marks the centre.

History and use

The cross and fleur-de-lys draw on Lincoln’s arms. Green evokes agriculture; blue represents the sea and sky; gold recalls the crops and the county’s familiar Yellerbelly nickname. Michelle Andrews designed the winning entry in a competition promoted by BBC Lincolnshire and Lincolnshire Life.
