Design and symbolism

A gold cinquefoil and a running fox lie across a red-and-white zigzag division. Each element contributes a different strand of county heraldry.

History and use

The cinquefoil recalls the de Beaumont earls, the zigzag division the arms of Simon de Montfort, and the fox a widely used county emblem. Jason Saber designed the flag, registered in 2021 after a request from the county’s MPs. Its registration completed the set of flags for England’s 39 geographic counties.
