Westmorland Day
The day and its story
Westmorland Day is 29 September. The date, associated with the creation of the title Earl of Westmorland, won a public vote held at the Westmorland County Show in 2013.
The peerage anniversary is the reason given for selecting the celebration day. It should not be mistaken for a date on which Westmorland itself was created. County history reaches beyond the history of a title.
Make it your celebration
Fly or display the county flag, explore a local collection, share a family story, or bring people together around the county’s food, language, music and history. Check individual organisers for event dates and access arrangements.
