Cheshire Day

The day and its story

Cheshire Day was launched as a joint initiative in 2021. The selected date, 30 March, recalls Edward I’s confirmation of Cheshire’s charter of liberties in 1300.

The charter provides historical context for the celebration; it is not a foundation charter for the county. Documented observances include flag-raising and activities promoting local heritage, food, attractions and businesses.

Make it your celebration

Fly or display the county flag, explore a local collection, share a family story, or bring people together around the county’s food, language, music and history. Check individual organisers for event dates and access arrangements.
