Design and symbolism

Red above gold carries a Saxon crown and a distinctive red-and-white rose. The three-tiered rose and crown make this design recognisable among other heraldic county flags.

History and use

The design adapts long-used Hampshire symbols while distinguishing the public flag from the council’s banner. A Saxon crown replaces the royal crown. The rose was developed from work by Brady Ells, with the final realisation by Philip Tibbetts; Jason Saber proposed the crown alteration.
