Design and symbolism

Three silver chevrons rise across a red field. The spare, repeated geometry is known as Iestyn’s Chevrons.

History and use

The arms are attributed to Iestyn ap Gwrgant and are associated with his descendants. Their documented heraldic use reaches back to the medieval period. The Glamorgan History Society requested registration, supported by local historical organisations, turning an established county emblem into a clearly recorded public flag.
