Design and symbolism

A blue bat spreads its wings across a broad gold horizontal band on black. Narrower gold bands run above and below, creating a distinctive striped setting.

History and use

Jason Saber devised the design from elements of arms attributed to Brychan and his family. The Historic Counties Trust records county use. It is not listed as a registered county flag in the Registry reviewed for this section. Medieval attribution should not be read as evidence that this modern flag artwork existed in Brychan’s lifetime.

This illustration is an established unregistered design, not a registered county flag. Registration has not been inferred from the age of its symbols or its inclusion in a flag gallery.
