British County Flags includes Riding and regional days alongside County Days. Yorkshire’s Ridings are divisions of Yorkshire, rather than separate geographic counties. The Black Country and the other regions below are also distinguished from counties in this directory.

County identity can also be celebrated on more than one occasion. British County Flags describes St Walstan’s Day on 30 May as an additional Norfolk flag-flying occasion, and St Edmund’s Day on 20 November as a second celebration associated with Suffolk. These complement the modern Norfolk Day on 27 July and Suffolk Day on 21 June.
