Dorset Day
The day and its story
Dorset Day is 1 June, the feast of St Wite. The county’s flag, St Wite’s Cross, connects the celebration with the same religious tradition.
Much about the saint’s life is uncertain. British County Flags recounts local stories about her service to the community, but these should be distinguished from securely documented biography. The day offers a wider opportunity to celebrate Dorset’s culture and shared identity.
Make it your celebration
Fly or display the county flag, explore a local collection, share a family story, or bring people together around the county’s food, language, music and history. Check individual organisers for event dates and access arrangements.
