Caernarfonshire Day

The day and its story

Caernarfonshire Day is listed on 28 November, the date associated with the death of Owain Gwynedd. British County Flags explains that this was selected because his birth date is not recorded.

The county flag uses the three-eagle design attributed to Owain. The celebration therefore draws together a significant figure in Welsh history and a modern shared county symbol. It is not an anniversary of the county’s foundation.

Make it your celebration

Fly or display the county flag, explore a local collection, share a family story, or bring people together around the county’s food, language, music and history. Check individual organisers for event dates and access arrangements.
