Bedfordshire Day
The day and its story
Bedfordshire Day is 28 November, associated with the birthday of John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim’s Progress. The date won a poll organised by the Friends of Bedfordshire Society and the first celebration took place in 2015.
The day has brought together civic flag-raising, schools and local organisations. Its literary connection gives visitors a route into the county’s cultural history, while the shared flag provides a simple way to join in.
Make it your celebration
Fly or display the county flag, explore a local collection, share a family story, or bring people together around the county’s food, language, music and history. Check individual organisers for event dates and access arrangements.
