Over the past few weeks something remarkable has been happening.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been rediscovering Britain’s historic counties.

Together, we’ve:

🗺️ Reached almost 900,000 people on Facebook in the last 28 days.
📚 Published new research into the origins and development of England’s historic counties.
🏛️ Shared evidence from historic records, government statements, Ordnance Survey and the census.
📍 Continued improving our interactive county map and reference resources.
🤝 Welcomed dozens of new email subscribers and supporters who want to help preserve and promote our county heritage.

Perhaps most encouraging of all, more and more people are recognising Historic Counties Institute as a trusted source of evidence on Britain’s historic counties.

None of this would be possible without everyone who reads, comments, shares, asks questions and challenges misconceptions.

We’re building something much bigger than a social media page.

We’re building the national reference for the historic counties of Great Britain and Ireland.
