23 July is the day when the flags of historic counties are celebrated. All county flags are flown in Parliament Square as part of the celebrations and this year has been extra special because the newly-registered flag of Leicestershire is flying for the first time!
So far, 54 historic counties of Great Britain (out of 86) have their own county flag as follows:
England – 39 out of 39
Scotland – 6 out of 34
Wales – 9 out of 13
We are thrilled with the flags that already exist and yearn to see those counties without a flag adopt one very soon!
