Celebrating Historic County Flags Day

The flags of historic counties were flown once again to celebrate Historic County Flags Day on 23 July 2023.
Across England, Scotland and Wales, local authorities and community groups marked this day, to celebrate local and national history and heritage. Local councils and county bodies in cities, towns and villages across Great Britain were encouraged to fly their county flag on the day.
Aberdeenshire Represented in Celebrations for the First Time!
In a show of national support for this occasion, the 53 registered flags of the historic counties of Great Britain were flown, with Government support, in Parliament Square alongside the Union Flag. In addition to local celebrations, council representatives, MPs and any members of the public were invited to see the colourful celebration in person.
The full list of all 53 registered county flags can be found on our website. If your county currently does not have a registered flag, please contact us and we will be glad to advise on how this omission can be remedied.

Our wish is for all counties of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to have an official flag!
